In Memory

Rita Canino (Napolitano)

RITA M. CANINO NAPOLITANO,

72 YEARS OLD
 BRICK, NJ

Hi: It's Rita and I am writing my own obituary. I have never seen this done so let me be the first. I had an 8-year fight with cancer and it won. It was a long struggle, but you just get tired. I died peacefully Tuesday with my family's support. I was born at Fitkin Hospital, now Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ and named Faustina Mildred Canino. My Dad, Faust, wanted a boy so bad I got the name Faustina. Thank God, my Mom had my name changed when I went to school. I was raised on Sewell Ave in Asbury Park by my loving Mom, Theresa. I attended Holy Spirit Grammar School and Asbury Park High School. I went on to complete a 2-year education at Monmouth College and began working for the Federal Government when I was 21 at Camp Evans, Fort Monmouth, NJ.as a secretary. Later I went to work at the actual CECOM's Office Building and the Meyer Center at Fort Monmouth in Eatontown as a budget analyst. My career consisted of 35 years of government service. I was a member of the St. Dominic's Adult Social Club in Brick and a parishioner of Visitation Roman Catholic Church in Brick for over 44 years. I was a member of AARP (who isn't), and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), as well as many organizations when I worked. I am predeceased by my Mom, Theresa Manfredi Camino; Dad, Faust Canino; and my sister Terry Wright. I am survived by my loving sons, Drew (wife Nellya) and Nick (wife Tracy) and 4 grandchildren whom I adored: Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Sophia and Angelina. They were my world. I am sorry that I had to leave them so early, but God told me it was time to come home. I also have 2 nieces, Lisa and Teresa and 1 nephew Raymond and an ex-brother-in-law Butch Wright who is one of a kind and his lovely wife, Janet. I have 6 great nieces and 3 nephews. Finally, is my forever furry friend, Zoey, whom will be lost without me.

So sorry about Rita. I definitly remember her. She was always so nice to everyone.

It gets so scary to see our alumni passing away so young.
