Martha Carol Peterson, 60, of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Townhip, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at home.  “Marti”, as she was known to her friends and family, was a caring person who truly loved life.  Her favorite place in any season was her beloved beach.  Born in Neptune and growing up in Bradley Beach, she lived  her entire life at the Shore.  After high school at Asbury Park, she attended Glassboro State College and continued her studies, graduating from Wesley College of Nursing in Delaware.  As a dialysis nurse at Monmouth Medical Center, she cared for her patients with compassion and love.  Marti continued her career as a drug and alcohol counselor and psychotherapist.  She considered each of her clients special to her.  She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Asbury Park, as an officer and board member of St. George Philoptochos Society.   She also served as a board member of Epiphany House in Asbury Park.

She was predeceased by her father, Frank Peterson, in 1971, and a brother Peter J. Peterson, in 1993.  Surviving are her mother, Bess C. Peterson of Bradley Beach, her niece and nephew, Anne Rowell and Peter Peterson; her sister-in-law Carole Peterson, her aunt and uncle Vickie and Paul Kosmas; and many loving cousins and their families; and very dear friends.
